“This book was so engaging I couldn't put it down! Really loved the feisty dragonet Ripley.” ~ Vonda N. McIntyre, Nebula/Hugo award-winning author

"If you find yourself attracted to reptiles and addicted to whimsy, it's probably Amy Wolf's fault. Her world of Cavernis sucks you in and refuses to let go, and the only thing you are left wondering after reading her novel is "when will there be more?" ~ R.E. Carr, best-selling author

Mattie Sharpe—seventeen and bored in L.A. —is getting into trouble. She gets into even more when she's whisked to Cavernis, a world teeming with dragons. But these are dragons as you've never seen them they are fussy gourmets; work as lawyers & CPA's; and attend their school ASH, where they take classes like TNS ("Tails, Nails & Scales").

Reuniting with her childhood friend, Mattie learns why she’s been brought there, and even heads ASH’s rowing team, Skull & Bones. She learns how to be a knight from the mysterious Eli, a small mute dragon…or is he?

A School for Dragons The Cavernis Trilogy Book 1 eBook Amy Wolf Reviews

Well written.. It marched. Interesting premise and enjoyable. Author interested in her own story and chronology good. I liked it very much.. Plan to seek her books in library's inventory at home.
I enjoyed the story and the characters but felt too often that Press was spoonfeeding problems to Mattie that she already had the answers to. That combined with the almost miraculously quick turnaround on personal and emotional problems brought this from 4 stars down to only 3.
An excellent story in every aspect. The characters are thoughtfully written and encompass fully real and lifelike actions and feelings. Transport yourself to Cavernis and allow Amy Wolf to regal you with her tales. Pure enjoyment for all ages.
I loved this book. Hoping there will be another to follow it. Great for teens or adults. Matilda is a normal defiant teen who becomes a great leader !
This was such a fun book to read. I was drawn in right away and enjoyed each new twist, turn and adventure. It kept me engaged and laughing too. I can't wait for the 2nd book to see what happens next!
I compare this Author to Annie Mccaffery's dragons of perm series and if she keeps improving she may be as great. All you could want is in this novel. How she thinks up a new world and then makes it happen by putting it in print is fantastic and I admire her forbit, keep it up.
It starts out like most other "child finds dragon egg and tries to raise it" story... Mattie finds a strange rock which turns out to be a dragon's egg witch hatches out a little wyvren that is her strangely intelligent BFF...
But one day, her mother discovers how big the creature is getting and insists he be sent to the zoo.
Years later, Mattie is hanging out with the wrong crowd at school and has no goals, when she is whisked away to Cavernis, the world in which dragons live. There she meets her childhood dragon, discovers she's a part of a prophecy, and is made to attend a school for dragons (with the extra bit of training to become a knight to prepare for her destiny)
..........

I really liked how the book included a ton of different types of dragons. (even Nagas!) Its so refreshing to step away from the "my dragon is THE LAST OF HIS KIND" trope. Amy Wolf did a good job of fleshing most of the characters out, too... certainly a feat with such a large cast!

It is a bit cliche, and there are a bit too many pop culture references for my taste, and I don't remember a reason being given why the dragons couldn't have outfitted themselves with modern weaponery and HAD to use sword/lance/etc... but overall it's a good book and I'm looking forward to book 2 ^u^
If you find yourself attracted to reptiles and addicted to whimsy, it's probably Amy Wolf's fault. Her world of Cavernis sucks you in and refuses to let go, and the only thing you are left wondering after reading her novel is "when will there be more?"

Maddie is a charming lead who grows on you, and I found myself rooting for her as she is sucked into a literal school for dragons - a charming place where the ultimate exotic pet becomes her best friend.
